IS IT REALLY FREE?
Yes! No registration necessary. Just bring your friends and family and show up. Consider organizing/sponsoring a bus ride for your parish and surrounding area if it's a hike for you. Give us a call (210-563-8859) if you're bringing a bus so we have a heads up. There will be designated parking for buses.
WILL THERE BE FOOD?
Yes, and it's free! There will be brats, hot dogs, popcorn, root beer, hot apple cider and bottled water free of charge thanks to our amazing sponsors. Or you may bring a cooler with your own stuff if you wish.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I BRING?
Bring a LAWN CHAIR or BLANKET to sit on, as there will be no seating provided. A JACKET for when the sun goes down might be a good idea, but you never know in Duluth. Keep an eye on the weather forecast. Bring some CASH in case you want to buy a concert t-shirt or band merchandise.
WILL THERE BE ACTIVITIES, BOOTHS OR VENDORS AT THE CONCERT?
No. Our vision for this event is to keep it simple...just a concert. There is beauty in simplicity. When distractions are cut out, it is often easier to enjoy and appreciate what's authentic. There is a playground for kids to use if you bring them, but we ask that you please monitor them at all times.
ARE THE GROUNDS HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE?
The concert will take place in a field with a steep hill consisting of a lower level (which is where the stage, food, and portable toilets will be) and an upper level. Although the concert may be viewed from the upper level, the lower level is not handicap accessible from the parking lots. As indicated on the map below, there is a handicap accessible entrance to the lower level on E 3rd Street. Although parking is not permitted near this entrance, you may use it as a drop off/pick up zone. There will be a family/handicap accessible portable toilet and a first aid station on site on the lower level.
IS THIS INTENDED TO BE A YOUTH EVENT?
This event was created with adults in mind first and foremost. However, youth of all ages are encouraged to attend. The richness and fullness of our faith attracts. We believe an authentic Christian message geared towards adults will impact youth as well. Plus, it's an outdoor concert...that's something to be enjoyed by all ages!
IS THIS ONLY FOR CATHOLICS?
No. Please come, regardless of your faith background. Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and Confession are optional to participate in. You may simply come to enjoy the food, fellowship and great Christian music.
WHY IS THERE EUCHARISTIC ADORATION DURING THE CONCERT?
As Catholics, we believe in the power of intercessory prayer. Our prayers before the Lord fully present in the Eucharist are especially powerful, therefore we have enlisted volunteers to adore and pray continuously throughout the event. They will be praying for the musicians, volunteers and all those in attendance at the concert, that they may be touched by God's grace and enlivened by the Holy Spirit.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN EUCHARISTIC ADORATION?
All are welcome to join in Eucharistic Adoration at any time. Pop into the Cathedral between bands...or during the concert if your ears need a quick break from the awesomely loud music! Adoration will begin immediately following the 5:00pm Mass and will end with benediction after the concert at 9:30pm.
WHAT ABOUT CONFESSION?
There will be private outdoor confessionals set up on the grounds during the concert. Priests will be available for Confession from 6:30-9:30pm. If you are moved to do so, take advantage of the opportunity to experience God's mercy in this healing sacrament.
